Making the Christmas Cake

Its half term and this is when I like to make our Christmas cake. Actually I had a couple of other posts in mind but we've been busy and so this is the one I'm going to write up today.

So youngest son Lawrence and I spent the morning grating and weighing, mixing and stirring. Out of habit I guess, I usually make an 8" round from a recipe by Delia Smith

As it takes so long to bake the house is filled with the gentle smell of spices for hours. The cake will be carefully wrapped up but I shall be feeding it brandy at regular intervals.

Its a long way til Christmas but I've made a good start in the preparations.
