To The Sea

Last Saturday there was nothing we HAD to do. It dawned dry and sunny and no rain was forecast  so we decided to bunk off and drive to the coast - may be it'll be the last time this year we get to see the sea.....

We drove to Lymington in Hampshire. A coastal town with boats and chandlers, ferries and seagulls. We lunched outside at a waterside pub ( not bad for mid October) and  then wandered round the town in the sunshine.

But after a while we realised we needed more sea, less people and less commerce, so we got back in the car and drove the short distance down the coast to Milford On Sea.

There was the brisk sea breeze and rushing waves we really needed. The outer edge of the beach is backed by a high spit of earth, behind which are salt marshes and a small lake. Ideal for visiting bird life and a peaceful walk. Much more us!

After a lovely walk we had an ice-cream in a small cafe ( literally one of the very few businesses on this beach -it really is a delightfully simple place) we then pointed the car towards  home.

A restorative day. The work back here could wait.
