No more shopping
All done and ready bar the cooking. Tim and I dashed to town early this morning and grabbed cheese and salad. 1 basket was all we needed which made it easy to weave through all the slow moving and piled-up trolleys in the supermarket.
After a bit of housework and lunch we both felt the need to go out for a walk, but somewhere that didn't involve crowds and shops!
Although it was starting to rain we set off to a local gravel pit lake. Tim had recently applied to the local wildlife trust for a key to the nature reserve hides there, so we were keen to try them out. Well worth the soggy walk. No one else around but us and the birds. We're only beginner bird watchers so far, but we spotted cormorants, tufted ducks, coots, swans, mallards and geese. Listening to the rain and wind whilst in the dry of a wooden hut. We felt quite warm and safe.
Back home now and just in time as the weather has got worse. Very wet and windy out there. We've had tea and mince pies to help dry us out. Felt good to get out though. An antidote to spending, crowds, traffic and plastic Christmas music.

I did an early morning supermarket trip to buy veg then at lunch time we went off to the pub for a couple of pints and a pie. Refreshingly, they were playing good old rock music. Not a jingle bell to be heard. I think I'm finally relaxing!
Have a great Christmas and take it easy.
I'll not truly relax until Christmas lunch is done ( 7 coming) but looking forward to it all.
Have a great Christmas too!
